Well, the hotline is almost gone. Just a few more days left and it...we...will be no more. Ricardo, Sal, and Balde are really all that's left. Adrienne and Consuelo will be moved over to Vendor Drug until they retire. Mary had already moved back to Vendor Drug. The rest...Irene, Ivonne, Angie, Julia, Sara, Esther, Arleen, Julie, Charmaine, and myself have moved on to new ventures.
I don't think I will ever have a job again where I was so blessed. We took/take a lot of trash from our clients, but there are/were so many who we were truly able to help and to make a difference in their lives. We could, for now, be thankful that we have our health, and that it was not us on the other end of the line. We helped those that could not help themselves and guided those that needed to be pointed in the right direction. And along the way, hopefully made many life long friends. Though we may have been wronged, we all can stand and say that we have done good, we have made a difference, and we did help many in our work...in our lives. We should all be proud for the work we have done.
Though it was not a path that I chose for myself, I am glad that I traveled it.
So as the year comes to an end, so does the light on the path that we traveled together. Soon the sun will have set and there will no longer be anyone to leave foot prints in the dust. Silence will fall on the line. I pray that when the sun rises that those that answer the call will be prepared for what's to come. That they are patient with the citizens of this great state and that the clients are patient with them. For they know not what cometh...
